From Intern to Innovator: Sharon’s Role in Frontend Development at Hyperface
Sharon’s journey at Hyperface began as an eager intern, and today she plays a pivotal role in developing and building core elements of our platforms. From being the youngest intern at Hyperface to becoming a valued frontend developer, Sharon contributes to everything from designing internal dashboards and tools to building websites and features for client projects.
Here’s a look at Sharon’s inspiring journey of growth, learning, and passion.
1. Can you introduce us to your role at Hyperface?
Hi, I’m Sharon, a front-end developer at Hyperface. I joined as an intern, and now, I contribute to both internal and external projects, which is incredibly exciting and rewarding.
2. How has your role evolved since you first joined Hyperface?
It’s been transformative, to say the least. I started as an academic geek, and now, I’m hustling in the industry. During my internship, I worked on client-facing projects, which was both challenging and rewarding. When I got the news that I’d be offered a permanent role, I was thrilled. Telling my parents that I’d become an earning family member was a priceless moment.
3. What does a typical day look like for you at Hyperface now?
My day starts with a standup meeting, where we set our tasks for the day. I work until lunch, catch up with colleagues, and attend any meetings scheduled. Then it’s back to work with a coffee break at 4 p.m. It’s a good mix of hustle and fun throughout the day.
4. What stands out to you the most about working at Hyperface?
Definitely my team. Everyone is approachable and always willing to help. Whether it’s my colleagues or my manager, I know I can count on them for support.
5. How has your time with Hyperface influenced your learning?
In many ways. Working on fast-paced projects, learning new tech stacks, and interacting with clients have broadened my experience. I feel like I’ve grown both technically and professionally in a very short time.
6. How is the experience of working with your team?
Getting hired alongside fellow interns made my transition smooth. We work together, share problems, and collaborate on cross-team projects. This camaraderie makes everything easier and more enjoyable.
7. How would you describe the company culture to someone considering joining?
In my experience, the culture here is straightforward: be on top of your work, make the most of the resources available, and take accountability. It’s a motivating and collaborative environment where everyone pushes each other to do their best.
8. What are you most excited to learn or achieve in the next year?
With new clients and projects coming in, I’m excited to work end-to-end on projects and gain experience with the latest tech stacks. The learning never stops here.
9. Where do you see your journey at Hyperface taking you in the future?
I believe Hyperface gives me twice the development experience I’d gain elsewhere. I’m focused on expanding my knowledge of the technologies we use, and I’m excited about where that will take me.
10. What do you do to unwind after a busy day at work?
I usually call my family, attempt to cook dinner (sometimes successfully!), and relax by watching Suits on Netflix.
11. Can you share a fun fact or hidden talent that your colleagues might not know about you?
I play the guitar, and I enjoy putting my thoughts into poems sometimes.
