Innovating with AI: Highlights from Hyperface Hackfest 2024

At Hyperface, we constantly push the boundaries of innovation, and this year’s Hackfest 2024 was no exception. Our theme, “Bringing AI to Hyperface,” set the stage for a thrilling 24-hour journey filled with ingenuity, teamwork, and breakthrough ideas. Over two action-packed days,  six talented cross-functional teams from product, tech, and customer delivery came together to revolutionise the way AI could be embedded into our technology stack—and they certainly rose to the occasion!

Day 1: Code, Brainstorm, Repeat!

August 2nd, 2024—Day 1 of Hyperface Hackfest 2024 kicked off with excitement in the air and coffees in hand. Our six incredible teams dove headfirst into the marathon coding session, bringing their A-game to the challenge. The AI theme was the spark needed to ignite innovative discussions, rapid brainstorming, and relentless problem-solving.

The night? Well, it was nothing short of legendary. Fueled by endless pizza and Red Bull, the teams powered through the evening, turning ideas into real-world solutions. There was laughter, friendly rivalry, and, of course, a whole lot of debugging! But what stood out most was the team spirit. Every Hyperface member was driven by the singular goal of “Bringing AI to Hyperface.”

Day 2: The Big Reveal

After 24 hours of continuous coding, Day 2—August 3rd, 2024—was the moment of truth. The teams submitted their final presentations at noon, followed by an intense pitch session, where each team had the opportunity to showcase their brilliant ideas to the judging panel: Ram, Aishwarya, and Prithwish.

Here’s a quick rundown of the six dynamic teams and their innovative projects:

• Predictive Pirates: Low code/No code query builder and visualisation tool
• Team Dormammu: Fraud credit transaction risk analyzer
• Bhooke Devs: AI-powered card recommendation engine
• Circuit Breakers: Location-based offer suggestion
• Proximity: Predictive offer engine
• The Wizards of ONBoarD: Onboarding journey personalisation

Each presentation was a blend of creativity and cutting-edge technology followed by a discussion round, making it tough for the judges to pick the winners. But after much deliberation, two teams emerged victorious!

And the Winners Are…

 1st Place: Team Proximity for their stellar Predictive Offer Engine. Their solution demonstrated the ability to personalise and predict offers based on customer behavior, making it an invaluable asset for our partners.

 2nd Place: Team Bhooke Devs, who impressed the judges with their AI-powered Card Recommendation Engine. Their engine promises to streamline card suggestions, helping users find the best fit based on their spending habits and preferences.

Bonus Prize – Most Innovative Team Name: Bhooke Devs! Who can resist a team name that’s as creative as their code?

The Hyperface Hackfest Heroes

The winning teams didn’t just walk away with the glory.  Team Proximity took home their winning trophy with personalised Mokobara bags, while Team Bhooke Devs earned Amazon gift vouchers for their second-place finish. All participants also received special book gifts, a nod to Hyperface’s commitment to learning and growth.

A Toast to the Future

As the day wrapped up with closing remarks from our leaders, it was clear that the Hyperface Hackfest 2024 wasn’t just about competition—it was about collaboration, creativity, and pushing the envelope of what’s possible with AI in fintech. We couldn’t be more proud of the incredible ideas that came to life over these two days.
